Product Features
Iron and manganese removal filter is mainly used to remove iron and manganese substances in the system and purify water quality; it can also be used for decolorization and deodorization of water.
Features
1. The unique multi-chamber structure can realize online backwashing (filtering, sewage discharge and backwashing at the same time).
2. Power saving: the outlet water is directly supplied to the pipe network, no need for another secondary water supply system; it has its own backwash function, no need for another backwash water pump.
3. Water saving: This equipment adopts "plum blossom water distribution device" to shorten the distance between the filter layer and the water distribution pipe, which can save a lot of backwashing water.

Working Principle
The iron and manganese removal filter is composed of an aeration device and a manganese sand filter tank; the low-priced iron ions and low-priced manganese ions in the water are oxidized into high-priced iron ions and high-valent manganese ions by oxidation method, and then removed by adsorption and filtration to reduce iron in water manganese content.
1. process flow
Aeration → Contact Oxidation → Adsorption Filtration → Backwashing
2. working process
①Aeration
According to the water quality, deep well water residual pressure jet aeration or compressed air aeration is adopted, and the pipeline is mixed with dissolved oxygen, which is stable and reliable. On the one hand, the aeration method is to increase the dissolved oxygen in the water; on the other hand, it is to remove CO2 to increase the pH value of the water, so that the ferrous iron is oxidized into ferric iron precipitation, and then filtered.
②Contact oxidation
The filter material adopts natural manganese sand filter material, which has double functions of catalysis and filtration.
The main component of natural manganese sand is manganese dioxide (Mno2), which is a good catalyst for oxidizing Fe2+ into Fe3+.
When the pH value of iron-bearing groundwater is >5.5, Fe3+ can be oxidized to Fe3+ by contacting with natural manganese sand, and the reaction is as follows:
a.4MnO2+3O2=2Mn2O7
b.Mn2O7+6Fe2++3H2O=2MnO2+6Fe3++6OH-
The generated Fe3+ is immediately hydrolyzed into flocculent ferric hydroxide precipitate: Fe3++3OH-=Fe(OH)3↓
③Absorptive filtration
a. Remove the flocs (Fe(OH)3 precipitates) formed by Fe3+ after passing through the manganese sand filter layer;
b. Catalytic oxidation of most of the unoxidized Fe2+ and ion exchange of hydroxyl oxidation in order to remove iron.
The mechanism of iron removal by manganese sand not only relies on its own catalytic effect, but also gradually forms a layer of iron filter film on the surface of manganese sand filter material during filtration as an active filter film, which can play a catalytic role. The newly generated iron oxyhydroxide is used as an active filter material and participates in the new catalytic iron removal process, so the active filter iron removal process is an autocatalytic process.
The removal principle of manganese is the same as that of ferrous iron.
④Backwash
The system can adopt two methods of manual and automatic control. Regular backwashing of manganese sand is required to remove impurities such as suspended matter that may be intercepted, and at the same time loosen manganese sand and cushion. Since the filter is equipped with a backwashing device, no backwashing pump is required.
Scope of Application
Used in food, beverage, papermaking, brewing industry, treatment of iron-containing water exceeding the standard, groundwater, well water as drinking water for iron removal, geothermal engineering and swimming pool circulating water needs.
